Job Description

We seek a highly empathic, skilled, and culturally competent facilitator. This position involves delivering programs such as Start Your Business, Fund My Business, and Coaching. The ideal candidate will have at least three to five years of experience in community empowerment program delivery, a strong connection to BIPOC and low-income communities, fluency in English or more languages, and the ability to conduct engaging and impactful training sessions in person (where possible or virtually). This role requires the capability to guide prospective new entrepreneurs from the initial ideation stage through the basics of starting a business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Entrepreneur Training

    • Conduct dynamic and interactive training sessions covering essential areas of business creation, including marketing, strategy, operations, finance, product/service development, etc.

    • Adapt training methods to address diverse learning needs within target communities.

    • Provide 1-on-1 coaching sessions to entrepreneurs as needed.

    • Work confidently with groups of up to 10 to 12 entrepreneurs. 

  • Community Success

    • Establish positive relationships within target communities, understanding their unique challenges and aspirations.

    • Foster engagement and create a supportive learning environment.

    • Be willing to attend public community events representing Centro. 

  • Evaluation and Feedback

    • Implement assessments via surveys to measure the effectiveness of training programs.

    • Collect participant feedback to improve and continuously adapt future sessions.

  • Training

    • Participate in ongoing training in anti-racism education and train-the-trainer sessions.

    • Learn to provide Centro’s content through the various workshops.

  • Skills & Abilities

    • Comfortable using technology systems and tools.

    • Ease of public speaking abilities.

    • Empathy to connect with individuals in different contexts.

    • Self-motivation, Leadership, Integrity, Humility.

    • Enjoy serving the community and empowering others.

    • Collaborative spirit.

    • Ability to simplify complex terms.

  • Content Development (a Plus but not required)

    • Create engaging and accessible training materials, including presentations, guides, and multimedia content.

    • Develop short courses tailored to the specific needs of underserved low-income communities.

Qualifications

  • Community College or University degree in, Psychology, Finance, Social Work, Economics, Social Sciences, Business, Entrepreneurship, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as an entrepreneurship instructor.

  • Proven track record of creating impactful training content.

  • Experience working with underserved communities and identifying their unique challenges through lived experience.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • A certified coach is a plus.

  • Proven experience or willingness to learn Google Workspace, Salesforce, Slack, Trello, Microsoft Office Suite learning management systems (LMS), and other software tools.

Compensation

  • The pay rate for this project-based Trainer position depends on experience and qualifications. We are starting at $35/hr.

  • About 30 to 40 hours of training is required to get started.

Additional Details

  • Project Scope: Compensation is based on delivering individual course programs. The flat fee covers the entire session, including preparation and delivery.

  • Consultant Status: This position is available on a consultant basis and does not come with employee benefits.
